Jason P. Korol

Mr. Korol has been training in Martial Arts since 1981 when he began studying Shaolin Kung-Fu in Upstate New York.  Mr. Korol achieved the rank of Black Belt in 1984 and then began studying Wing Chun, a Kung-Fu method without a formal ranking structure.  He continued training in both of the aforementioned methods until 1987 when he began training in both Wing Chun and Kali in preparation for learning Jeet Kune Do.

In 1989 Mr. Korol began to study Jeet Kune Do formally - first under Progressive Fighting System's Paul Vunak, and then with Sifu Lamar M. Davis' United States Jeet Kune Do Alliance.  He received  instructors rank from both organizations - from Mr. Vunak's in 1990, and from Sifu Davis' in 1991.  He opened his first Martial Arts Academy in February of 1991 - the Jun Fan Gung-Fu Academy, at 445 State Street in Schenectady, New York.

In 1994 Mr. Korol opened the Jeet Kune Do Training Center in Taylors, SC.  In 1998, with the help of his top student, Rusty T. Starkey, Mr. Korol established the Association of Martial Arts and Philosophy, which acts as an educational and sanctioning body of the JKD Training Center.

Mr. Korol's primary goal is to teach rational Martial Arts, thus establishing students of honor, integrity, and rational self-esteem.  He hopes to inspire all who train with him to become the very best they can be.

Mr. Starkey has assisted in several general classes and seminars including instruction on women’s self defense, hand to hand combat, weaponry and philosophy.

In 1996, Mr. Starkey joined a local law enforcement agency as a police officer. Skills and strategies learned thru Jeet Kune Do have been particularly valuable to a successful and safe career in this area.

In 1998, Mr. Starkey assisted Sifu Korol in developing and bringing to life the Association of Martial Arts and Philosophy, or A.M.A.P. Aside from being the educational and sanctioning body of the Jeet Kune Do Training Center, A.M.A.P. produces the quarterly JKD newsletter – the ATLAS.  Mr. Starkey is currently the editor in chief and a contributing author of this publication.

Mr. Starkey shares the same passion and dedication to the advancement of individuals thru rational martial art instruction as Sifu Korol does, and is committed to improving each individual’s character and integrity as much as improving their bodies and fighting skill.
